The class is 3 weeks and meets on the following Tuesdays: May 20th, May 27th, and June 3rd from 10:00am to 11:00am.
This class is open to all ages. Please note that it is not a drop off class.
During this 3 week class, we will learn how an egg transforms from a seemingly simple egg to a chirping chick, and then to a full grown hen or rooster. We will learn how to care for both chicks and full grown chickens as well as the benefits of having chickens.
Week 1: We will learn the different stages of chicken development and identify the different parts of the egg. We will start the process of incubating eggs while learning the very delicate needs an egg has to be able to develop into a chick and hatch out of an egg.
Week 2: We will spend time candling the eggs. This gives us a sneak peek into how each egg is developing without harming it. We will go over the parts of a chicken and spend time talking about the different breeds of chickens.
Week 3: What an exciting week! Chickens will be hatching!!!! It is such a fun moment when we get to see these tiny chicks peeping through their shells and with all of their strength pushing into this world. We will learn what chicks need and how to care for them.
