CHAI TEA

Who doesn’t like a sweet drink?

We are raised in a world of sweet. Our bodies crave sweet at different times of the day. I crave sweet after each meal especially lunchtime when I seem to crash and want to take a nap. Why not cut that craving with something healthier than soda or coffee? This recipe has much less sugar and no other unhealthy added ingredients but it has caffeine for those who need it.  Even the chai tea powders available at stores are loaded with sugar and many other unhealthy add-ins. This recipe is prepared fresh with tea, honey, water, and milk. It is clean and oh so yummy!

It has become a favorite in my house. My children and guests even ask for it. You can drink it year round. In the summer months, I drink my chai tea over ice and in the winter months, I drink it hot. The best part is that it is only sweetened with honey so you won’t be on sugar overload after a glass of it.

It is easy to prepare by the glass or pitcher. Below you will find the recipe is designed for a pitcher or thermos. To prepare it by the glass, simply pour hot water into a mug, steep one chai tea bag for 5 minutes and add 2 teaspoons of honey (you can add more or less to taste), and one tablespoon of milk. Mix it all together. If you are drinking it hot, that’s it. :). If you want an iced Chai tea, simply pour the tea over a glass filled with ice and enjoy.

I prepare it by the pitcher or thermos because as I said before, it is a popular beverage in my house and if I only prepare a single serving, when my children see what I am drinking, they want some too. Also, if you are preparing it to be served over ice, you can keep it in the refrigerator for a day or two. I would imagine it would keep for 4 or 5 days in the refrigerated, but it never lasts long enough in my house to know for sure.
